I also tried with and without optirun without any luck.Īny ideas of what else I can try? While Minitube isn't that important, and Totem instead of VLC I can probably stand, I'd like to be able to get Skype working correctly at least. In VLC, I tried out the different "Output" options for video - 1/3 of these kept displaying the green screen, 1/3 of them refused to play and printed error messages in the console about lacking some or other connections, and 1/3 of these crashed outright (something to do with some OpenGL thing not implemented). ![]() * GOOD: Cheese (GTK) - Webcam actually works as expected (I'd been expecting that it was incompatible with this computer) * GOOD: Videos/Totem (GTK) - Video plays as expected ![]() * BAD: Skype (Qt) - Webcam feed appears as greeen screen again. Webcam feed in VLC is also just a green screen. * BAD: VLC (Qt) and Minitube (Qt) - Only display a green screen when playing back video (but sound is fine). Unfortunately, I'm currently running into issues getting video playback to work correctly in all Qt-based applications. * HP Truevision HD (on /dev/video0 at 1280x700) I've installed bumblebee and the propriety nvidia-319 drivers to get the nvidia card working. Some models do not come with a webcam and the area where the webcam would normally reside is replaced by a small plastic plug. If your computer has a webcam, you should see a small lens in the top center, above the screen. * Nvidia Optimus - Intel HD Graphics 4600 (Haswell) + NVidia GeForce 740M. Take a moment to visually inspect the top of your computer monitor. ![]() ![]() I'm running Linux Mint 15 64-bit Cinnamon edition on a HP Envy 17-j007tx.
